Prime Minister Narendra Modi, amid the heightened tensions across the Line of Control, arrives in Jammu and marks centenary of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra.There is high security in and around Jammu and major traffic restrictions have been imposed across the winter’s capital of J&K.
“Unfortunate in politics that after death, few political leaders stay alive.They are forgotten.But some legends are such that the kind of life they lead and what they do, they become immortal – Girdhari Lal ji is among them,” Modi said.
Earlier before the PM’s arrival, a team of special protection group (SPG) of prime minister’s security has already reached Jammu and carried out sensitisation of the venue where prime minister is scheduled to address a gathering. The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jammu to take part in the centenary celebrations of former Jammu and Kashmir finance minister Girdhari Lal Dogra.
General Zorawar Singh auditorium of Jammu University, the venue of the function, has been sealed and the entire University has been turned into a fortress. Everyone entering the premises is being properly frisked. “Elaborate security arrangements have been kept in place ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jammu,” SSP (in charge) Jammu Rajiv Panday told PTI.
“We have covered all the areas near the venue, the police and other security agencies have sanitised the area and personnel have been deployed on all the high-rise buildings in and around the venue,” he added. According to reports, the Prime Minister is likely to announce a development package of around Rs. 70,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir during his visit.
