Just a few days ahead of Republic Day celebration, an anonymous letter, purportedly signed by dreaded group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS), has threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The letter has been circulated by the Goa Police to all the police stations in the state and handed over the case to the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).
A senior police official said the postcard threat letter was received at the State Secretariat last week following which Goa Police swung into action.
“All the agencies of state police are investigating this letter, the official said.” We will soon be able to find the source of it.” The official confirmed that ISIS was written at the bottom of the postcard. The letter has also expressed anger over ban on cow slaughter in the country.
The Goa Police have begun investigations into the letter that threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for allegedly pursuing anti-beef policies.
“Since you are not allowing to eat beef, you will be taken care of,” the postcard said referring to Modi and Parrikar.
