Legendary music composer and singer MS Viswanathan, passed away at the age of 87, after being critically ill for several days. The legend died in the early hours of Tuesday morning. He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Fortis Malar Hospital, since June 27, where he was being treated for breathing difficulties, and other ailments related with old age.
According to hospital sources, the music maestro, who passed away at around 4:15am, was also suffering from old-age amnesia. According to a statement issued by the hospital last Monday, his condition was improving. However, the situation worsened in the past couple of days.
Fondly called MSV, Viswanathan had composed songs for films like Urmai Kural, Sirithu Vazha Vendum, Billa and so on. He has a record of having composed music for more than 1200 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam.
