BJP MP Kirti Azad a day after he was axed from the party for ant party activities has now said that he would ask Prime Minister Narendra Modi and he should tell him what his fault has been. He also wondered how the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) could be a party matter. “How can DDCA be a party matter? This is not an internal matter of the BJP,” Azad told reporters in New Delhi, once again refusing to directly name finance minister Arun Jaitley in the raging controversy. BJP party took strong exception on Kirti Azad’s actions and suspended him while fully backing the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
“How is the DDCA matter about Arun Jaitleyji? I have been exposing corruption in cricket for almost a decade now. In that case, even the BCCI should be a BJP matter,” the cricketer-turned-politician said.
“Prime Minister Modi should come forward and tell me what my fault is,” Azad said. “It wasn’t specified in the notice which anti-party activity I engaged in… I have been raising my voice against corruption in DDCA for nine years. Was I punished for that?”
Azad denied he is framing Jaitley in the DDCA row. “I have never back-stabbed anyone, there are no specific charges against me. I request PM Modi to tell me what my fault is,” the dissident MP from Bihar’s Darbhanga said.
He also said that he had raised his voice against a lot of other corruption cases related to the BCCI as well. “You (NDA) are the government. I am an MP. I raised some concerns and I have been suspended. But I hope that in three months the DDCA matter will be solved,” Azad said. “I also hope that BJP’s Marg Darshak Mandal looks into this,” he added. “If saying the truth is a crime, then I will keep committing this crime,” he said.
