Despite being asked by party top brass including party president Amit to not to go ahead with his press conference  on his charges against the DDCA and the alleged role of  now Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley when he headed the DDCA  , the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)MP Kirti Azad  finally after promising  to reveal all  came out with a new video alleging corruption in Delhi District and Cricket Association(DDCA).

He has  claimed that a ‘Wikileaks 4 India’ investigation revealed that DDCA awarded contracts to fake companies. The sting operation claimed that 14 companies which got contracts from the DDCA were registered on fake addresses around Delhi.  Azad said he is not targeting any individual and this is simply a fight against corruption. Azad launched a fresh salvo at the DDCA for alleged irregularities in its financial transactions.

The MP from Bihar flanked by former India skipper  Bishen Singh Bedi,  and former player Surinder Khanna showed a WikiLeaks India video which claimed that companies awarded tender for work at Delhi’s Ferozeshah Kotla stadium had given false addresses and that these tenders were inflated by DDCA members. The video further claims that DDCA had hired equipments at exorbitant rates, including a laptop for Rs 16,000 a day and a printer for 3000 for a day.

Azad has alleged that DDCA inflated prices of the items and services that it procured. He also alleged that DDCA did not float tenders before awarding contracts and has demanded an investigation by ED and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence into the irregularities.

Kirti Azad also clarified that he had no personal enmity with anybody and just wanted to expose the corruption. “Let me start out by saying I’m a big fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his campaign against corruption,” he said at a media briefing at the Press Club of India here. “I just want to expose corruption. I repeat, this is not a personal or against one person. It is against corruption.”

Interestingly , While Azad highlighted the presence of bogus companies  and money spent he failed to specify or somewhat clarify what role  finance Minister Arun Jaitley had in the entire scam.

Meanwhile , Arun Jaitley got a major boost ahead of the  Kirti Azad press conference as three of Delhi’s top  cricketers tweeted  in support of him –  Delhi and KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir who termed it appalling to see former players hitting out at Arun Jaitley, recently retired Nawab of Najafgarh Virender Sehwag and seamer Ishant Sharma .
