Days after a 30-year-old law student was found allegedly raped and brutally murdered in Kerala’s Ernakulam district in a grim reminder of the Nirbhaya case, another horrific incident of alleged gang-rape has come to light in Thiruvananthapuram district of the state.
The 19-year-old victim, who is a Dalit nursing student in a private college, has told the police that her friend Shyju, 24, and another Sujith, 25, were two of the attackers who assaulted her in an autorickshaw in Varkala area on Tuesday. It is reported that the victim was taken to a deserted spot and allegedly raped by Shyju, who is an autorickshaw driver, and his friends.
The girl is undergoing treatment. She is traumatised after the incident and has suffered bouts of fits, officials reported.
A case has been registered against three people and investigation is on, the police said.
