After facing flak from scores, Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Kailash Vijayvargiya retracts his tweets against Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan, saying he was “misconstrued by some”.
“My tweet was misconstrued by some, I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. I retract my tweets from yesterday. If India is intolerant, then Shah Rukh Khan wouldn’t have been the most loved actor after Amitabh Bachchan,” the BJP leader, said in his latest tweet.
On SRK’s 50th birthday, on Tuesday, Vijayvargiya, a BJP general secretary and a former Madhya Pradesh minister, had tweeted, Khan “anti national”. Following the tweets, Controversial Hindutva leader Sadhvi Prachi backing him, called the DDLJ actor a “Pakistani agent” for saying there is “extreme intolerance” in the country.
“Shah Rukh lives in India, but his soul is in Pakistan. His films make crores here but he thinks India is intolerant. If this is not anti-national, then what is it? India is making a bid to become a permanent member of the United Nations and all anti-Indian forces including Pakistan are creating a conspiracy,” Vijayvargiya’s said in his earlier tweet.
Congress veteran leader Digvijaya Singh, also tweeted, “I strongly condemn Kailash Vijavargiya’s statement. Modi should personally apologise to Shah Rukh. Shah Rukh don’t worry we stand by you.”
