Collins began her writing career in the 1960s, with her first novel, ‘The World is Full of Married Men’. The novel was banned in Australia, as well as South Africa, due to it’s explicit description of extramarital affairs. She went on to write several other novels, which she described as ‘bonkbusters’. Her biggest seller, however, was the Hollywood series. This series was even adapted into a mini series, starring, Anthony Hopkins, and Candice Bergen.
The late best-selling author, began her career, at the age of 15, earning parts in British B movies. She later went on to writing, after receiving encouragement from her second husband, Oscar Lerman, to whom she was married for 26 years, until his death, in 1992.
Collins revealed the news of her long battle with cancer, just 6 days before her death, to People Magazine. The article is yet to be published in full. In the article, Collins revealed that she has no regrets about anything that she did. She lived her life on her own terms, and was proud of the fact. She went on to add that her greatest accomplishment was her sprawling family.
Collins most recent work, was a novel titled ‘The Santangelos’, which she promoted all over the world, despite of her illness.
