“It is a sub-continental trend where good are not spared after one loss. At times, the media is also responsible,” Afridi said.
Afridi, who calls a spade a spade, said, “Criticise Dhoni all you like, but just look at his record before jumping to hasty conclusion. He is such a good player. His Test and ODI record for India speak for themselves.”
Crediting Dhoni for building such a fine team, Afridi said, “Dhoni has built such a good team. One only has to look at the bating line-up; there is so much quality and talent in it,” he said.
Afridi, who now plays T20 format for Pakistan, said, “Pakistan domestic cricket too has improved in the recent years. We have a good supply of youngsters in the national team. This team will grow from strength to strength in coming days,” said Afridi.
Afridi, 35, who was known for his swashbuckling batting in his hey days, said plying his trade in T20 leagues across the world is his way of staying fit.
“Having played in Big Bash (T20) in Australia, I will now play in Caribbean Premier League. Only when you play with some of the top cricketers do you know where you stand (in fitness),” said Afridi.
Afridi said, “I am looking for resumption of between India and Pakistan should be resumed again. I wish to play World T20 in India, next year.
