In an effective and likely mocking responds to Umpire, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard tapes his mouth after the umpire asked him to stop chattering to Royal Challengers Bangalore batsmen and his fellow West Indies player Chris Gayle at Chinnaswamy stadium.
Putting the audience and players giggling, Pollard literally tapes his mouth to show that he would do absolutely no talking. When he had to talk to his teammates, he peeled off an edge of the tape and put it back on. Interestingly he even gestures with umpire with the tape but not a single word came out of his mouth.
Defending the Pollard’s action, Indian slow-bowler and Mumbai Indian teammate said the bizarre gesture was unique but not in bad taste.
“The umpire told him to stay quiet, so he wanted to make sure to put the tape on his mouth and be quiet, but he is a bit of character. He likes doing things like that. IPL brings the best flavours of the West Indies boys and there was something very different and unique which was in a good taste,” Harbhajan told, speaking to the reporters.
