Mercurial West Indian opener Chris Gayle, has added another feather to his cap when he smashed the 500th six of his T20 career to become the first man in history to do so. The Jamaican achieved this feat in an Indian Premier League match against Rajasthan which ended on damp note as rain played spoilsport. This was Gayle’s 201st T20 game. The second man after Gayle in the list of most T20 sixes is his own countryman Kieron Pollard with 348 Hits over the fence. Gayle already holds the record for most sixes in IPL history with over 200.

Gayle scored just 10 runs off four deliveries against Rajasthan . Bangalore’s next match will be against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 2. The left-hander also holds the record of scoring fastest double century in ODIs. Gayle smashed his way into the record books with a devastating double ton off 138 balls against Zimbabwe in a Pool B match of World Cup 2015.

He became the fourth batsman – after Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag and Rohit Sharma – to score a double century in the history of ODIs. His swashbuckling knock included 10 fours and a record-levelling 16 sixes.
