In another shocking incident which raises questions on the moral duties of Delhiites, a man bled to death after being hit by a speeding min-truck in west Delhi’s Subhash Nagar on the morning of August 11.
According to CCTV footage, many persons passed by the bleeding man, but none of them tried to check on him. Even what is more shocking is that a rickshaw puller stopped by the victim but instead of helping him he took away his phone and fled the scene.
The victim was declared dead when bought to the hospital by the police.
The victim, identified as Matibul, hailed from West Bengal. He reportedly worked as a security guard and was returning from his duty when the accident happened in the wee hours of Wednesday morning. The impact was such that he flung in the air before he hit a pole and landed far away on the road.
According to the police, Matibul was walking back to his home near Tihar village. The entire incident, which shows the accident and the apathy of people towards the victim has been recorded by the CCTV camera.
According to the footage, the driver of the mini-truck came out from his vehicle to check on the victim but fled from the spot without even touching him.
The recording also showed that a rickshaw puller came near to the bleeding Matibul and took away his phone.
Efforts are being made to identify the driver of the van who hit the deceased, police said.
