Independent J&K MLA Engineer Rashid came under attack today in the national capital when unidentified individuals threw black ink on his face. Earlier this month, Rashid threw a beef party in Srinagar a day before the J&K Assembly was scheduled to take up a Bill on beef ban.
Engineer Rashid was holding a press conference in Delhi after, accompanied by three family member’s of Zahid Ahmed Bhat, when three men attacked the independent MLA, throwing ink on his face.
Rashid reacted by saying that, “The world will see what India has turned into. They say Pakistan has been taken over by Taliban but look what’s happening here,” he told media after the attack.
Vishnu Gupta-led, fringe group named Hindu Sena claimed responsibility for the attack.
Rashid went on to add, “This is the sign of what is happening in modi’s India, not Gandhi’s India.” Rashid earlier insisted that the ban on beef was an “interference in religious” affairs.
Earlier this month, Engineer Rashid was attacked by the BJP, in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly, for hosting a ‘beef party’ in the premises of the government circuit house, in Srinagar. His actions were also condemned by J&K CM Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, and National Conference leader, Omar Abdullah.
