Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympics has been upgraded to silver, the grappler confirmed via a tweet on August 30.

Then silver medallist deceased Besik Kudukhov of Russia, was stripped off his medal for using a banned substance.

However, United World Wrestling and the International Olympic Committee will have the final word whether Dutt, who had bowed out in the first round of men’s 65kg freestyle at the recently concluded Rio Olympic Games, will get the silver medal or not.

Kudukhov, a four-time world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, who was killed in a car accident in 2013, had tested positive in a dope test conducted by World Anti-Doping Agency. As a result of this, Dutt, who had won a bronze medal in men’s 60kg freestyle category in London Games, may move up a notch from bronze to silver from the 2012 Olympics, according to flowrestling.org, a Russian news agency.
