Hindu group beats up 2 Muslim women for carrying beef, ruckus in RS

beefActivists of a Hindu radical group roughed up two Muslim women in Mandsaur in the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh on July 26 for allegedly carrying beef.

The duo came all the way from Jaora to sell the beef in Mandsaur. They were apprehended by the police when they reached Mandsaur railway station.

The women were beaten up by Hindu Dal activists after they had been detained by the police. A video shows a huge crowd beating and abusing the women.

The women were sent to judicial custody after they were produced in a court. The police recovered 30 kg of meat from them. The police failed to take action against those who beat up the women.

A sample was sent to a laboratory for examination, which found that the beef was not cow meat, but buffalo meat.

According to a media report, Bhupendra Singh, home minister, Madhya Pradesh , said, “Action will be taken against those who are held guilty in the incident.”

Meanwhile, opposition parties on July 27 created a chaos in Parliament after a right wing group beat up the women for carrying beef. The members stormed into the well of the House and shouted slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence against attacks on Dalits and Muslims.

After BSP chief Mayawati raised the issue, the Congress joined in by demanding to know why Muslims and Dalits were frequently becoming targets of violence.
