HC notice served on Vijender Singh for inking professional boxing contract

vijender1 A notice has been served to the Haryana government and boxer Vijender Singh by the Punjab and Haryana High Court after he signed a professional boxing contract.

Taking took suo moto cognisance of media reports, the court stated that the government has been using taxpayers’ money to provide various facilities to sportspersons.

Moreover, the boxer has entered into a contract with a professional boxing firm and did not think it fit to inform the government about it.

Vijender is a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) with the Haryana government.

Meanwhile, the Haryana police warned of taking action against Vijender if he fails to seek permission from the state government for turning professional.

Being a government employee Vijender cannot accept another employment and cannot accept remuneration from any other source without the government’s permission.

“Vijender Singh may also resign from the service on his own if he has decided to go professional. If he doesen’t do this then disciplinary action can be initiated against him and he can be removed,” said Haryana additional director general of police (administration) KK Sharma.
