Haryana police nabs 3 in Rohtak rape case, 2 absconding

Rape1In the latest development in Rohtak rape case, where a 21-year-old Dalit college girl was raped for the second time by same men, Haryana Police has arrested three out of five persons.

According to reports, out of the five persons, two were out on bail for raping the victim earlier in 2013, while the police couldn’t find proof for the rest of three at that time.

However, in the current case, the arrested persons have been identified as Amit, Jagmohan and Sandeep. A manhunt has been launched for the remaining two, identified as Mausam and Akash, and they will be arrested soon, said DGP Haryana KP Singh, addressing a press conference.

“We have arrested three persons. One more who has been named (as an accused) will be arrested soon. As for the fifth accused, his address is not complete. As soon as we ascertain the address, we will apprehend him,” he was quoted saying.

“We are treating it as a case of gangrape as per the victim’s statement. We will arrest all the rapists, get her statement recorded under Section 164, CrPC and submit the challan before the court,” he continued.

However, the two accused, who are out on bail, responding to allegations, have claimed a conspiracy against the accused.

One of the accused’s brother said his brother was not in Rohtak when the crime took place. “He was in Bhiwani, he went to the bank and withdrew Rs 5 lakh that day,” he told. While the wife of other accused said that her husband was being framed. “He travels between Kurukshetra and Ambala as he has a marketing job and there is CCTV footage to show he was in a shop in Ambala that day.”

They both have submitted CCTV footages to prove the innocence of their family members.

“We will be examining the footage and call detail records given by the families of the accused men. We will verify to make sure there is no tampering,” Pushpa Khatri DSP Haryana said and ensured fast-track investigation.
