Kashmir gunfight over: Two security personnel killed, militants escaped

In an intense gun battle at Hardushoora village in Tangmang area of north Kashmir, two security personnel killed and a civilian injured. The encounter was broke out between militants and security forces when militants opened firing on the security forces.

“Acting on a tip off about presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area,” a police official said, adding, “a gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces and they retaliated.”

According to an army official, security forces were on a search operation after getting specific information of presence of militants in the area.  A joint team of army’s 29 Rajputana Rifles and SOG launched the cordon and search operations at Hardushoora village, the source added.

The gunfight has finally over after the militants broke the cordon and escaped from the gunbattle site. Senior Superintendent of Police Sunhail Munawar confirmed it. “The gun battle is over and we are conducting a search operation, and the militants, two or three in number, seems to have escaped from the spot,” he said.
