India’s national Kabaddi player, Dolly Singh, has been attacked for allegedly trying to resist a molestation attempt, in Kanpur on, 12 June. The victim was ruthlessly manhandled, leading to several injuries on her face.
According to Dolly Singh, ten to twelve men, armed with sticks and guns, stormed into her house and beat her up as she had registered a complaint against a molestation attempt earlier. No arrests have been carried out in this regard.
Father of the national player blamed the police for not even filing an FIR in the case. “We went to police, they said okay we’ll register a case, but soon that went cold. Then we went to the DIG, they tried to console us and then turned us away,” he said.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Sharad Mathur has meanwhile assured swift action in the case. “Charges have been framed. Arrests shall be made accordingly,” he said.
