Ghaziabad school student ends life over unpaid fees, 4 teachers arrested

hanging ropeA girl student ended her life after some teachers barged into her house and humiliated her father over non-payment of school fees in Sihani Gate area of Ghaziabad, according to police.

Six DSP school teachers were booked on charges of abetment to suicide and four of them were arrested, on the complaint of the deceased’s father.

A security guard by profession, Ratan said a teacher had slapped him and that one of them had called the police alleging misbehaviour on Ratan’s part.

The girl Jasmeen Tomar was the eldest of four kids and all of them went to the same school. The school fees were not paid for three months by the father.

Distressed that her father had been taken to the police station, the girl hanged herself with a dupatta from a window grill. The police said her sisters and one brother had gone out in the neighbourhood to play.

According to the girl’s family, four teachers of DSP Higher Secondary School in Ghaziabad went to Jasmeen’s residence on July 28. After sometime, the school’s principal and three other teachers also joined them. They reportedly demanded Ratan to immediately pay Rs 11,000 pending school fees.

An FIR has been lodged at the Sihani Gate police station. The girl’s body has been sent for postmortem and further probe is on.
