Indian cricket vice- captain Virat Kohli , is no doubt the best young batsman in world cricket today . But the star batsman’s aggression and temper is worrying the Indian team. This side of the flamboyant batsman came to the fore yet again as Virat Kohli suddenly lost his cool after the training session as he hurled abuses at a journalist before the side’s group league game against West Indies at the WACA. It didn’t occur to anybody that something of this sort will happen.
Once Kohli was done with his training and was returning to the dressing room, he saw a scribe of a national daily in front of him. To the horror of that journalist, Kohli started using filthiest of language and it went on for some time before he stormed off and some of the Indian team members looked amazed as to what exactly had happened.
Meanwhile the Indian team has denied that Kohli used abusive language. The Indian media contingent in Perth, the media manager Dr RN Baba said, “There was a misunderstanding and no abusive language was used, Virat has spoken to the concerned gentlemen immediately and matter ends.”
Earlier, according to PTI, the particular journalist on whom Kohli had gone verbal also seemed clueless but once the Indian Test skipper cooled down, he told someone about an article that had appeared about him and his girlfriend Anushka Sharma in a national daily and he thought that it was that particular journalist, who had written the story.
When Kohli was told that he has mistaken this particular reporter as someone else, Kohli called one of the journalists and through him apologized for the incident. Team Director Ravi Shastri has personally spoken to Kohli and advised him to keep his cool as it is unbecoming of a future India captain to behave in this manner publicly.
Moreover , this is not the first time Virat has had a run-in with his rivals. During the Test series against Australia, Virat had a nasty spat with Delhi team-mate in the dressing room itself when he was asked to go in to bat at short notice after Shikhar Dhawan pulled up unfit at the last minute.
In the IPL 2013 match between the RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders, a verbal duel between KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir and Kohli during their IPL clash took fans by surprise. As Gambhir and other players walked towards the cover region to celebrate the RCB skipper’s dismissal, Kohli, instead of walking back to the pavilion, charged towards Gambhir and made a remark after which all hell broke loose.
During India’s Test tour of Australian 2012 Sydney Test, angry at an abusive group of spectators at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Kohli stuck out his middle finger at the hecklers on the second day of the India-Australia Test. Kohli later defended himself on Twitter, saying, “I agree cricketers don’t have to retaliate. What when the crowd says the worst things about your mother and sister? The worst I’ve heard (sic).”
