After a series of mysterious deaths associated with the Vyapam scam, BJP leader and Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti said, she is scared by the number of deaths and added that there is a panic in the state due to the deaths, which are increasing.
“There is a panic in Madhya Pradesh due to the deaths. I am scared for the lives of people connected to me. I am a minister but still I am scared. I will convey my fears to CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan,” Bharti told India Today TV.
Bharti, a former CM of Madhya Pradesh, said she was the first person to have suggested a CBI probe in the scam. “I was named in the FIR as per an accused’s version. This is unfair. I am shocked that my name has been dragged into this. I was the first to suggest a CBI probe,” she said.
Saying that Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh has a clean image, Uma Bharti also backed the BJP leader. ANI quoted her as saying: “I stand with Shivraj ji”.
Earlier, Home Minister Rajnath Singh also came out backing CM Chauhan. He said the Madhya Pradesh government would order CBI inquiry into Vyapam Scam if the High Court or the Supreme Court feels there is a need for such a probe.
“If Supreme Court and High Court feel SIT is not investigating properly and that a CBI inquiry must be initiated, MP government would be ready for it,” Rajnath Singh said, adding, “a PIL was filed demanding CBI probe into Vyapam scam and it was clearly rejected by both the HC and the SC.”
