Former RJD MP Shahabuddin gets life sentence for murder

A court on 11 December sentenced former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin to life, in connection with the murder of two brothers 11 years ago in Siwan district of Bihar.

Shahabuddin is lodged in the Siwan central jail for the past several years in connection with cases against him.

Mother Kalawati Devi had lodged a first information report charging Shahabuddin’s three henchmen with the murder of her three sons.

Additional district judge, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, gave the judgement pronouncing Shahabuddin, Rajkumar Sah, Sheikh Aslam and Arif Hussain guilty under Sections 302, 364A, 201 and 120B of the IPC.

Shahabuddin’s name had come up during investigation. He was also made an accused as the brain behind the kidnapping of three brothers at Goshala road by Rajkumar Sah, Sheikh Aslam and Arif Hussain on August 16, 2004.

Simultaneously, Girish and Satish died after acid was poured on them, while another brother Rajeev Bhushan, managed to escape. He appeared before the judge as an eyewitness in the murder case, but was murdered by unidentified assailants on June 16, 2014.
