Ex-JD(U) MLA axed from party for violating liquor ban; arrested

Former legislator Lallan Ram has been suspended from membership of JD(U). Reason: He violated the liquor ban which was implemented three months ago by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The ex-MLA, who was seen gulping jugs of beer in a video filmed last month, was heard saying that nothing would happen to anyone as he had the (muscle) power and the CM behind him. The video has since gone viral on social media.

The excise department has lodged a case against the former MLA from Kutumba constituency in Aurangabad district, who has been arrested.

The former legislator claimed the video was a conspiracy against him, and that it was shot before prohibition began in April. The BJP , pouncing on the opportunity, said the video was proof enough that Kumar’s own party men have left prohibition in force in a shambles.

It may be
recalled that JD(U) MLA Manorma Devi was arrested in May after the Bihar Police found several liquor bottles at her residence.
