Edhi foundation says no to accept PM’s charity of Rs one crore

Abdur Sattar Edhi of Edhi Foundation refused the offer to accept Rs 1 crore, which was announced as charity to the foundation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He announced the charity after meeting Geeta, 23 who returned home on 26 October from Pakistan.

In this regard, Abdul Sattar’s son Faisal Edhi is likely to address a press conference regarding the same at Karachi Press Club.

Fifteen years ago, Geeta was reportedly seven or eight years old when she was found by Pakistan Rangers to be sitting alone an unaccompanied sitting alone Samjhauta Express at the Lahore railway station.

On Monday, PM Modi met Geeta and offered her all financial help needed. He also assured every effort to race her family. She embraced him warmly as Modi said, “Welcome back home, Geeta. It is wonderful to have you back home. Was truly a delight to spend time with you today… All of India will take care of you.”

Thanking the Edhi family, Modi said they were akin to an “apostle of kindness and compassion” for taking care of Geeta, stated a PMO release.
