Untitled-2 copyA female journalist, working with the Zee owned DNA news portal, is reported to have jumped to her death from the fifth floor of her Faridabad building in the late hours on Monday. Originally from Indore, the 28-year-old was reportedly suffering from depression after she was placed under suspension by her company DNA, for her alleged involvement in an extortion case.

Police have confirmed that an FIR had been lodged against the victim Pooja Tiwari and her friend Anuj Mishra charging them for extorting an amount of Rs 2 lakh from a doctor through blackmail. An FIR for abetment to suicide has been registered by Surajkund Police against doctors Anil Goyal, Archana Goyal and Dhawal who were involved in this case. In his defence, Dr. Anil Goyal has been quoted stating, “A bogus doctor whom we don’t know referred Dr. Archana Goyal’s Nursing Home to conduct MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy). An extortion of Rs 2 lakh was demanded from us. Since we refused to pay, a story was published on the portal and made to go viral on social media following which we filed an FIR.”

The mystery intensifies due to the presence of her friends Amreen Khan and a Haryana Police sub-inspector Amit Vashisht in the Faridabad house. They are currently being interrogated by the Police, while her body is sent for post-mortem. Her brother, Saurabh, has been quoted in interviews discrediting the responsibility of the men present for murder, and revealing the lack of support from Zee and DNA in her exposé of female foeticide in Haryana.

Several theories relating to her death have emerged with some claiming it was murder due to her involvement in the case. Police is investigating the case.
