In a horrific act, a Delhi police traffic constable hits a woman with brick after being reportedly denied to pay a bribe of Rs 200 near the historic India Gate in National Capital.
The police constable identified as Head Constable Satish Chand had stopped the woman when she jumped a red light. Later, the woman was asked to pay the bribe. When the woman refused to pay the bribe and asked for a challan, the Head constable thrashed the woman with a brick.
The victim Ramanjeet Kaur said she was with her kids at the time of the incident. “My kids were with me, I didn’t give him money, that is why he thrashed me,” Ms. Kaur said. “He attacked me with a stone; I am hurt on my hand and back.”
“I said I didn’t cross any red light, but if I did, I’m sorry. Then he told me he will issue me a challan. He then asked me for my documents which I gave and later said I can pay Rs 200. I told him to issue me a challan. He said no. You can pay 200 and go. I said no, issue me a challan and only then I will pay. Or you can send the challan at home and then I will pay,” Kaur said.
The victim was on her way to home after attending a Parent-Teacher-Meeting when the cop pulled her over for crossing a red light and later thrashed.
Meanwhile, Delhi police has reportedly suspended head constable Satish Chand, and a case has been registered under section 302 of the IPC. The head constable has already suspended, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said.
