Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla is battling to host the fourth cricket Test match between India and South Africa. This situation arose after the panel appointed by Delhi CM Arvind Kejiriwal came up with the recommendation to suspend DDCA which has been under the scanner for a while.
Apparently, the committee has also recommended that the BCCI should replace the DDCA with a body of professional cricketers, and that sports bodies like DDCA should be brought under the purview of RTI (Right to Information Act), the report on CNN IBN added.
The recent developments indicate that the Feroz Shah Kotla is likely to miss out on hosting the fourth Test scheduled to be held form December 3- 7 after the BCCI set a deadline of 17 November to obtain clearances.
DDCA are supposed to pay entertainment taxes in excess of Rs 24 crore in order to get clearance for organizing the match. The last two days have been one of twists and turns even as DDCA vice president Chetan Chauhan and treasurer Ravinder Manchanda met CM Arvind Kejriwal recently .
The panel was also not satisfied by the BCCI’s stand that there was no irregularity in the cricket association. This is seen as an apparent snub to the BCCI. This report is sure to have a detrimental effect on Delhi’s chances of hosting the fourth and final Test between India and South Africa. With the AAP refusing to soften its stand, its now looks likely that the BCCI will have to shift the Test to another venue.
It’s believed that the report, which reportedly contains nearly 300 pages, listed complaints of financial and managerial irregularities, and examination of DDCA’s player selection process.
