Congress leader in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, addressing a crowded press conference, announced Dikshit’s name as the party’s CM face.
It was poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s idea to portray a Brahmin face as CM candidate for the polls. Kishor was roped by the grand old party to pull up its sagging fortunes.
There have been several reports saying that party was trying to rope in Priyanka Gandhi as the CM candidate of UP. But Dikshit’s experience and long innings as CM of Delhi, were what had brought her the post.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Bureau has served summons to the former Delhi chief minister in the Rs 400 crore tanker scam. The Bharatiya Janata Party has asked Dikshit to give an explanation in this regard. Dikshit as the chairperson of Delhi Jal Board in 2012, had hired 385 water tankers from private contractors.
