Persisting to attack Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Congress party recapitulated that a fair probe into multi-crore Vyapam scam was not possible unless the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader resigned from his post.

Randeep Singh Surjewala, addressing a press conference, said, “Continuous series of murder in Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam proves that Chouhan will not let the authorities conduct a fair probe.”

Accusing the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister of trying to “mislead” the state Assembly on the probe, the Congress said that Chouhan had claimed, that there were no irregularities, but FIR copies showed otherwise.

“There were several FIRs against imposter students in Indore, Bhopal and other places, but the Chief Minister claimed otherwise,” said Surjewala.

The  Congress’ attack came just just days after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the probe into the infamous Vyapam scam, following the order of Supreme Court. The apex court has sought a reply from CBI on whether it should monitor the probe by July 24.

The Congress has also insisted on the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

“Dharmendra Pradhan should step down, and if he doesn’t, the Prime Minster should ask him to resign immediately,” said Congress’ Randeep Singh Surjewala, reiterating his party’s demand that the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan must resign.
