New Delhi: Serious allegations of submitting bogus curriculum vitae (CV) to the search committee have been leveled against Chandra Krishnamurthy, Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor, during the appointment session. Accusers believe it was the reason for her appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University on the 1st of February, 2015.
Dastigri Reddy, General Secretary of Pondicherry University Teachers Association (PUTA) in a conversation with TEHELKA, alleged that “Her CV was recommended to the MHRD by Sanjay Dhande, then Director of IIT Kanpur, whose Chairman of Board of Directors, Ananda Krishnan was a member of the VC Search Committee, who presumably ensured the passage of her faulty CV through the Search Committee without scrutinizing and verifying even the minimum qualifications required for the post. No academician recommends or considers a CV containing publication list without journal names, volume numbers, page numbers etc. But the above said academicians did in the case of Dr. Chandra Krishnamurthy.”
PUTA alleged that “Her CV states she has three books published to her credit. But she has only one book published by Himalaya Publishing House. Even this book ‘Legal Education in India’ was found to be plagiarised, to the extent of 95 per cent. Consequently, the publisher of the book withdrew the book from the market. The publisher also stated that the other book she claimed (Human Rights for Vulnerable Groups) was never published by them. She brought absolute disgrace and shame to the Office of the Vice Chancellor and to the Institution. Her Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) is from a fake University in Sri Lanka (Open International University for Complementary Medicine) under the aegis of a fake college (Zoroastrian College, Mumbai) offering bogus degrees. She claimed she guided 9 PhD. students and in reality, she guided only 2 PhD students.
As per PUTA, “In her CV, Dr. Chandra Krishnamurthy presents herself as ‘Prof. Dr. Chandra Krishnamurthy’, when the fact is that she never worked as professor in any state or central university. There is no evidence shown by her CV, that she ever worked as professor anywhere. She falsely projected herself as Prof. Chandra Krishnamurthy in her CV and manipulated her way to the Vice-Chancellor position.”
Reddy said that “Misguiding and false information proved in Chandra Krishnamurthy’s CV have been classified and catalogue. It is of regret that in the matter of appointment of vice-chancellors fro central university, the search committee did not properly verify the academic credentials of the candidates.”
TEHELKA attempted to establish contact with Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy multiple times, but she failed to reply.
