The Central Bureau of Investigation team on 13 July arrived in Bhopal to probe into the Vyapam scam, following a Supreme Court directive.
The team held discussion with MP police officials and the Madhya Pradesh high court-appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT), which hitherto monitored the probe, officials said.
It may be noted the Special Task Force had conducted the preliminary assessment of the probe.
The CBI will take stock of the progress made in the probe so far and ascertain the number of cases needed to be registered by it. It will also be tasked with the responsibility of probing massive rigging in exams, conducted by MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), for jobs and admission to various educational institutions.
The investigating agency has been asked to file its report to the SC on 24 July, when it is likely to monitor the probe as demanded by some petitioners, including Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh.
An SC bench headed by Chief Justice of India HL Dattu, had on 9 July, transferred the probe of all cases related to Vyapam scam, to the CBI.
