BSF foils infiltration bid near Pathankot

BSF1One suspect was killed, while two other escaped as the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration bid near Pathankot on Thursday morning.

Three men tried to enter the Indian territory from across the border in Sehjra bulge area near Pathankot. The Border security forces foiled the cross-border intrusion bid after shooting one suspect out of the three, who were trying to enter India from Tash Lassain, Pathankot.

Inspector general frontier of BSF Anil Palwal told media, “Three intruders made the attempts to cross international border around 6:40 am but were spotted by the force’s patrolling party following which, the intruders opened fire.” He added that the intruders wanted to take advantage of thick layer of fog to enter India.

The incident has taken place within just three weeks of the Pathankot attack when six heavily armed militants stormed and attacked an Indian Air Force base in the area.
