Bomb hoax: Jet Airways Delhi-Kathmandu flight stopped at IGIA, searched

Jet Airways Delhi-Kathmandu flight 9W 260 was stopped from taking off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport on 25 January after an anonymous caller said that there’s a gift box on seat 18 of the plane.

The caller did not specify the exact seat and ended the call by saying happy Republic Day.
The plane was scheduled to depart from New Delhi to Kathmandu at 1:25pm with 104 passengers and seven crew. All of them have been disembarked from the aircraft and taken to the departure waiting area at the Delhi airport. The plane is being searched.

The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee has been activated and a final clearance for the flight is awaited.

The treat comes a day ahead of the 68th Republic Day on 26 January. Security is at an all-time high in view of the celebrations tomorrow. French President Francois Hollande will be the chief guest at the Republic Day parade.

The incident comes two days after a GoAir flight from Bhubaneshwar to Mumbai had to make an emergency landing in Nagpur following a bomb scare on Saturday. The bomb scare was later declared a hoax.
