At least three people were killed and around 50 injured in an explosion at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Dombivali area on Thursday. According to early reports, the blast occurred in a boiler room of the Acharya Chemicals. Many are feared trapped in the building.
Local residents complained that the explosion shattered window panes of houses and buildings as far as two kilometres from the factory.
Several fire tenders reached the spot, but the fire is still raging inside the factory. Over 50 workers have suffered injuries with four among them seriously wounded. More people are feared to be trapped inside.
The area around the company where the blast took place has been sealed.
