nirmal-videoA 20-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in Kerala’s Thrissur was allegedly stabbed to death during a festival at Kokkulangara temple on the night of February 12.

The BJP, which placed the blame for the attack on the ruling CPI (M) behind the murder of Nirmal, called for a strike on February 13.

According to the police, Nirmal was on the outskirts of the city during a temple festival. Though the youth was rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved. Another worker Thomas, 29, was also injured in the attack.

The incident occurred a month after a BJP worker was attacked and killed outside his home in Kannur district. C Santhosh, 52 was attacked by gang last month.

Over the past few months, there has been increase in the number of violent conflicts between the BJP-RSS and the CPM.

Few days back a BJP team from the state had visited Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh complaining that the state police force was unproductive and the CPI (M) was indulging in state-sponsored violence.
