Uttar Pradesh: After a complaint has been lodged with the Meerut district magistrate against BJP leader Sangeet Som for allegedly submitting fake degree documents in his affidavit to the Election Commission, the BJP MLA from Sardhana, speaking to Tehelka, denies the allegation saying that it was raised in order to tarnish his image.
“The Principal (of KK Jain Inter College) has already issued a clearance notice to me in the matter. The complaint is totally false. Devendra Mukhia has done this earlier as well. He had also levelled charges against Congress leader Ambika Soni and former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda,” Som said.
“The person who has levelled these allegations against me himself has a criminal record in the Bisrakh police station. Four to five wanted cases are pending against him in the same station. He is a close relative of a Samajwadi Party ruling party leader from Meerut,” Som alleges.
“All this is just the SP getting cold feet over BJP’s phenomenal rise over the months,” he added.
However, if Devendra, headman of Bisrakh village, is to be believed, Sangeet Som has provided the election commission with false information regarding his educational qualifications.
According to media reports, Devendra had given an application to the election commission and the DM (District Magistrate) of Meerut along with a certificate from the Principal of the KK Jain Inter College, Khatauli. The certificates states that Som failed his high school exam in 1993 and took a transfer certificate from the school the same year.
