Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on 4 March accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of launching personal attacks at him in his speech in the Lok Sabha and said the voters will send BJP packing from the state during the Assembly poll like their Bihar counterparts due to his unfulfilled promises.
During his speech in Assam, Gandhi said Modi “attacked me yesterday, but didn’t reply to the questions he had asked of him in his speech on 2 March and again attacked the PM for making non-stop false promises”.
“During the PM’s speech to the motion in the Lok Sabha, Modi launched personal attacks at me and narrated quotes of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi. But he did not answer a single question I had asked him. I respect him. He is the country’s PM. I asked him four questions, but he didn’t answer them. Launch personal attacks at me as much you want and enjoy it, but do answer my four questions.”
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) approached Speaker Sumitra Mahajan complaining against Rahul Gandhi’s ‘fair and lovely’ remark on 2 March. The ruling party is likely to move a motion on ‘racism’ in the House when it convenes on 8 March.
