The Bihar Assembly results got many reactions, some of them hilarious, on social networking sites.
While some hailed the victory of the grand alliance as one of democracy and tolerance, rightwing supporters let out their anger by saying the days of jungle raj are back.
“Ek Bihari Nagpuriyon par bhari” (one Bihari trounces Nagpuris), wrote Kumud Singh of Patna referring to the RSS, while people from Patna to Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga to Delhi took to Facebook and Twitter to express their opinions.
Meanwhile, peeved BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha without mincing words tweeted, “It is the victory of democracy and the people of Bihar. I salute them.”
Taking jibe at the top leadership in a tweet, he said, “It appears the issue of Bihari vs Bahari (and Bihari Babu’s absence) has been settled once and for all.”
“Wishing luck to our victorious friends and appealing for introspection to our people. The writing was always on the wall. Salute once again to Biharis,” Shotgun tweeted.
“BJP says cow isn’t allowed to vote that’s why we lost the ground #modibhagao Jay Ho,” said Nabil Ashraf, a Bangalore-based IT professional from Patna in his Facebook post.
Also Biharis in United States also posted and tweeted and gave a new twist to Bihar-related stereotypes. “Jo na kate aari se, wo kate Bihari se”, tweeted Ajit Chauhan, a US-based research professional.
