Asaduddin Owaisi surrenders to police after FIR, granted bail


Owaisi1Hyderabad MP and chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Asaduddin Owaisi, surrendered himself to Hyderabad Police after an FIR was registered against him and his party members for assaulting Congress leaders.

During the elections for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, AIMIM workers allegedly attacked leaders of Telangana Congress Party. The FIR alleges that AIMIM workers disturbed the procedure by manhandling Congress leaders and even damaged a car near Mir Chowk police station in the old city in Owaisi’s presence.

TCP legislators Mohammad Shabbir Ali and Uttam Kumar Reddy suffered serious injuries during the attack. The FIR invoked multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code to charge Owaisi and his party members charged.

When produced in court, all of them have been granted bail as of now.

After Owaisi surrendered to the police, he was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for medical examination, and subsequently produced in the court.

Owaisi was granted bail on two sureties of Rs.5000 each, according to media reports.
