Apple is planning on the largest ever production of new iPhones, by the end of this year. According to reports, the company is asking its suppliers to manufacture 85-90 million new units. Sources suggest that screen sizes in the new phones will be the same as in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.
Last year’s order of 70-80 million devices of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus has been Apple’s largest initial production run till date.
One of the most salient features of the new iPhones is the Force Touch Technology that will enable the device to differentiate between a light tap and a deep press. This technology is already in use in Apple Watch and MacBook laptop.
After Hon Hai Precision Industry Co and Pegatron Corp, Apple is now looking at Taiwan-based Wistron Corp as the third assembler.
It has also been reported that some component suppliers have already begun work on parts for the new iPhones, earlier this month.
