According to officials, the body of the woman was discovered near water supply pipe at the end of the Platform no.2 by a cleaning staff around 8:30 am. He subsequently informed the authorities about the incident. According to the reports, a ‘duppatta’ was used by the woman to hang herself.
“Nothing could be found on CCTV since the location where the incident took place was beyond the purview of the cameras,” said an officer from CISF.
The woman was declared brought dead when she was taken to the hospital. Her body has been sent for post-mortem for further investigation.The identity of the deceased has not been established as she didn’t have any bag or identity proof in her possession.
This is the second case of a suicide in the same week, earlier a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at Azadpur metro station on March 20.
A data by CISF reveals that 88 people tried to commit suicide in 2016; however, 12 people lost their lives.CISF saved lives of 11 people while they were attempting to end their lives. Commuters have also saved lives of 20 people.
