In an exercise to revamp his ministry, the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has sacked his five cabinet and three state ministers to pave way to induct new faces in his cabinet keeping in view fresh strategy to overcome challenges of 2017 Assembly elections. He also withdrew departments of his nine cabinet ministers and assumed charge of their departments. Governor Ram Naik has issued notification accepting his recommendations. Cabinet expansion would be done on 31th October.
The cabinet ministers who were sacked include most trusted senior and firefighting minister Ambika Chaudhari, Raja Aridaman Singh, Shiv Kumar Beria, Narad Rai and Shiva Kant Ojha. State Ministers including Alok Kumar Shakya, Yogesh Pratap Singh alias Yogesh Bhaiya and Bhagwat Sharan Gangwar were also dismissed. No reasons behind such drastic steps were assigned. Reshuffle exercise no way affected his most vocal minister Mohd. Azam Khan and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Senior Minister and most trusted lieutenant of Mulayam Singh Yadav who has been seen as firefighter in the house to rescue Akhilesh government from embarrassment, Ambika Chaudhari’s removal from the cabinet is most surprising. Talking to Tehelka Chaudhari expressed shock and surprise over his sudden removal from the cabinet and told there could be more decent ways to take this extreme step.
On the recommendations of chief minister the following ministers have been divested of their charge of their department. They include Health and Family Planning Minister Ahmed Hasan, Social Welfare, SC-ST and Solider’s welfare minister Avdhesh Prasad, Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Paras Nath Yadav, Basic Education Minister Ram Govind Chaudhari, Transport Minister Durga Prasad Yadav, Home Guards and PRD Minister Brahma Shankar Tripathi, Food and Civil Supply Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya, Fisheries and Public Sector Undertakings Minister Iqbal Mehmood and Secondary Education Minister Mehboob Ali.
Chief Minister is going to reshuffle his ministry introducing new faces to his cabinet aiming to come up to the expectations of his electorate who gave him thumping majority for bring overall development and job avenues but till now their dream could not find wings to fly. The disillusionment in his rank and file and feedback that his party MLA’s and cadre are clandestinely keeping touch with BJP leadership specially its president Amit Shah, perhaps pave the way for much expected expansion of ministry.
Samajwadi parivar recently met and took stock of political situation of the state and found that the general impression in public mind is that this government is having so many power centers and Akhilesh Yadav has not been given free hand to run his government independently and mostly overburdened by the old people who are very senior and not reporting to him.
In order to exert his authority to establish his supremacy, Akhilesh Yadav recently sacked his Advisor for Industrial Development and NRI affairs, Madhukar Jaitley who was monitoring Metro Rail projects and NRI investments and was busy in planning NRI meet in January 2016. Mr Jaitley was close and trusted associate of Mulayam Singh Yadav for the more than last three decades.
