As the PM Modi-led NDA government is suffering from the crushing defeat in Bihar Assembly polls, a BJP legislator has held PM Modi responsible for NDA’s poor show in the election.

Bhola Singh, an MP from Begusarai, has said that Modi’s “unparliamentary language” during the election campaign was one of the reasons why his party lost the Bihar battle.“Top party leaders including Modi are responsible for it (defeat),” said Singh.

Addressing journalists in Patna, he said, “The BJP was not defeated in Bihar, it committed suicide.” By winning 178 seats out of total 243, JDU)-RJD-led Grand Alliance is all set to form government in Bihar. On the other hand, the BJP-led NDA will sit in Opposition with 58 seats followed by others with 7 seats.

Bhola Singh said the rampant use of unparliamentary language by Modi and other party leaders during the campaign harmed the BJP, leading to its defeat. “During the campaign, local BJP leaders were sidelined and ignored,” he said, adding,“There was no logic to raise issues such as beef and that firecrackers would be burst in Pakistan if the BJP loses. All this resulted in our defeat.”

He further said the party failed to make ‘roti-rozi’ the main campaign issue though it spoke of economic development as its top agenda.

After the four MPs who spoke publicly earlier – Shatrughan Sinha (Patna Saheb), Hukum Deo Narain Yadav (Madhubani), RK Singh (Ara) and Ashwani Kumar Choubey (Buxar), Bhola Singh is the fifth BJP MP from Bihar to hit out at the party leadership after the defeat.
