A brief and amusing interlude in the Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered a glass of water to Aam Aadmi Party member Bhagwant Mann.

Shouting slogans in the well of the House against the CBI raids on Delhi secretariat, Mann suddenly felt uneasy and looked for water on the Lok Sabha secretariat officials’ table.

Grabbing the opportunity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only gave the glass of water to Mann, but covered the glass after he drank it. They exchanged smiles before Mann continued to raise anti-government slogans.

Earlier, him, along with Congress members shouted slogans inside the well, after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan did not allow adjournment motions moved by them on Arunachal Pradesh and other issues.

The Question Hour continued amidst the din. Mann in a bid to attract the Speaker’s attention waved some papers to which Mahajan warned him of bad behaviour. He moved to the other side of the well, near the Prime Minister’s seat when the water incident took place.

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, who was seated in the front row, was seen laughing. Congress president Sonia Gandhi also laughed heartily when she came to know from her partymen what had happened between Mann and the PM.

Mann and Sandhu Singh of AAP amd some Congressmen were indulged in slogan-shouting in the well, another party member Dharmveer Gandhi was standing on his bench holding a placard urging that Chandigarh airport be renamed after Bhagat Singh.
