46% polling registered till 2pm in Bihar

As Bihar heads for what is being billed as a mini-Lok Sabha election, with 49 constituencies going to the polls on Monday, the battle-lines are drawn. 

  1. With the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the Nitish-Lalu-led grand alliance face-off each other, voters polling has been recorded at 46% till 2pm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the polling day urged voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers. He particularly asked the young voters to cast their votes in large numbers.

Forty-nine Assembly segments are going to the polls in the first phase of Bihar Assembly elections. A total number of 1,35,72,339 voters will cast their votes in the 49 Assembly seats for which 583 candidates are in the fray.

The break up of seats being contested by different political parties in the first phase—the BSP leads with 41 candidates, followed by BJP (27), RJD (17), LJP (13), Congress (8) and RLSP (6).
