At least 46 persons were killed and eight injured due to lightning strikes as rain hit Bihar on Tuesday and continued up to Wednesday.
The Bihar Disaster Management control room stated deaths that took place from 21 June to 22 June were the highest ever recorded in a 24-hour span.
The worst affected districts were Nalanda, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Patna, and Purnea. The department’s principal secretary Vyas Ji said.
The Bihar government has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the next kin of the deceased.
He also said, “We’re still getting the details of deaths due to lightning from various districts. It will take some time to add them all up to reach a final figure.”
