In a likely honour killing incident, a 36-year-old married man and his minor girlfriend, 16, were allegedly beaten first and then burn to death in the Gaya village of Bihar.

According to reports, family members chased the couple who had eloped, and brought them in front of village panchayat. The village panchayat also allegedly ordered to perform the killing of the couple. The public hearing was attended by hundreds of people.

Police have registered a case against six people including the father of the girl. SSP Manu Maharaaj said: “This is a clear case of honour killing. The police have registered at case at Wazirganj police station in which members of the girl’s family have been named as accused.”
