As many as 35 trains were cancelled and 14 are running late on 22 January as a dense fog engulfed parts of northern India, including Delhi, throwing normal life out of gear.
According to Northern Railways, around 35 trains have been cancelled, while one has been rescheduled following the bad weather conditions.
Passengers were seen waiting at railway stations in Delhi as many trains were delayed or rescheduled.However, there were no flight delays or diversions, said the airport authorities.
The temperature recorded at 5.30am was 5.24°C in Delhi, i.e. a degree below the season’s average. Visibility fell to as low as 100 metres at 8.30am.
There was no respite from the cold wave in Jammu and Kashmir owing to dry weather, though the Valley witnessed bright sunshine.
In Ladakh’s Kargil district the mercury plunged to the season’s lowest at minus 16.4°C. Srinagar registered a low of minus 4.3°C.
