In three different terrorist attacks, three people had been killed and two others injured in the Jammu and Kashmir. In an attack, terrorist killed unarmed three police officers in Shopian area of the state. The incident took place when the security personnel had gone for investigating a crime in a village in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Three policemen -one head constable and two constables- were killed in a militant attack at Ashipora in Shopian district,” a police officer said. He added the slain policemen were unarmed and had gone to the village for investigating a crime when terrorists opened fire on them.
In another attack, gunmen opened fire at a cop in Baramulla area. “Terrorists shot at and critically injured a police officer in Pattan area of Baramulla district. Sub-Inspector Ghulam Mustafa was shot at and injured by two pistol-borne terrorists in a bus which was on its way to Pattan”, a police official said.
Rafig Ahmad Bhat, a former terrorist, of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was shot at and critically injured, in another attack, by gunman in Tral Township in Pulwama district. A police source said Bhat was rushed to Srinagar for treatment
Condemning the attacks, former chief minister Omar Abdullah twitted, “Grim reminder of the challenges in Kashmir, while we celebrate the colours of spring & try to attract tourists 3 brave policemen are killed.” He also condoled the death of the three cops. “Corrected – My condolences to the families of the 3 policemen killed in the line of duty in #Shopian today. May their souls rest in peace.”
